(Photo of Great Blue Heron ...) September Bird Walk - Ledge Road at Horicon Marsh

We had a much better turnout for our walk on Ledge Road at Horicon Marsh this time around. Half a dozen of us walked on a spectacular early autumn day. We were treated to 50 species and hundreds of individual birds.

Special treats incluced a Sharp-shinned Hawk, Black-crowned Night Herons, a seldom seen there Red-headed Woodpecker (a juvenile) and over three hundred American White Pelicans. Flocks kept arriving the entire time we were walking. A full list of species seen follows.

This was our last scheduled walk for this season. Thanks to everyone who joined us for one or more walks. You make holding these walks fun and worthwhile. We hope to see every one of you for next year's walks. As we often say, you'll miss something interesting if you're not walking with us.
