May Bird Walk - Ledge Road, Horicon Marsh

Egads! For the first time in decades of birding, your intrepid walk leader Brad Webb was assaulted while leading a walk! No, it wasn't a fellow walker who didn't see the target species she wanted. Brad was whapped in the side of the head by a Yellow Warbler who was single mindedly pursuing a rival male. According to witnesses, the offender landed on the path, paused a moment, then flew into the brush, apparently unharmed. The bird issued no apologies.
On a beautiful Spring day a small group of three birders enjoyed a pleasant but warm walk on Horicon Marsh's Ledge Road. We didn't observe any unusual birds but were treated to good looks at a wide variety. A highlight was listening to a Wood Thrush singing it's haunting song. As we were heading to the cars a couple of Trumpeter Swans flew in behind us, sounding their trumpeting calls loudly. All in all, we had a very good walk.
If you couldn't be with us for this walk we hope you will join us for a later one. There's always something worth seeing on these walks. Including maybe a Yellow Warbler thug! There's a full list of species seen below.

Below is a complete list of bird species identified.
