(Photo of Black Tern ...) May Bird Walk - Glacial Drumlin Trail

Only three brave souls took on a rainy, cold day to take part in the May Walk. But we were rewarded for our efforts! We didn't record as many sightings as we often due, mainly due to the weather. (See complete list below.) In compensation we were treated to a chorus from Veerys which surrounded us on all sides. Their singing continued for quite some time. Such music made putting up with the weather worthwhile!

Interestingly, we also found a Wood Thrush. These birds also have a beautiful song but disappointingly this one was silent. Perhaps he was more interested in finding something to eat.

All in all we were pleased we'd taken a chance on the weather. The rain did catch us but not until we were headed back to the parking lot, sparing us a long walk through the wet.

If you couldn't be with us for this walk, we hope you will be able to join us for an upcoming field trip. There's always something you'll miss if you're not there!
