May Bird Walk - Zeloski Bioblitz walk
A number of birders joined us for our May walk, which was held as part of the Zeloski Marsh Bioblitz. The Bioblitz was an attempt to record every species of living creature - mammal, bird, insect, plant - that exists in the marsh. From all reports, a large number of previously unknown species were discovered, and many folks had a great deal of fun seeing what they could uncover. Our walk started on the north end of the marsh and proceeded to the Bioblitz Base Camp, where walkers got to hear about the work ongoing from some of the scientists and organizers. It proved a fascinating experience. Along the way, we had a chance to observe many interesting bird species, including a surprising Northern Pintail! There's a full list of birds seen below. Thanks to Karen Etter Hale for acting as scribe.
If you couldn't be with us for this walk, we hope you will be able to join us for an upcoming field trip.
