June Bird Walk - Zeloski Marsh

While we didn't find the large groups of shorebirds we hoped to see at Zeloski, we did find a number of intereseting species. At walk time water was quite low in the marsh due to the need to repair a dike. It will take some time to refill. We did find interesting waterfowl despite the low water.

As we were returning on the trail we realized we'd walked right next to a Killdeer nest in the center of the trail! We'd managed to avoid any damage. We also saw other Killdeers near nests. They were perhaps the "bird of the day" due to their numbers. There's a complete list of species seen below.
