June Walk
June Bird Walk - Rose Lake
Perfect weather, a prairie in full bloom, and a continuing concert by Bobolinks and Eastern Meadowlarks - with solos by Sedge Wrens, Red Winged Blackbirds and others was a highlight of a marvelous birding experience on this Saturday. We saw and heard all this on the newly acquired eastern portion of the park. Overflights by Great Blue and Green Herons added to the experience. This area is a wonderful addition to the park. We'll be returning to it from time to time to see how it develops.
We also moved to the west side of the park with its very different habitat to see what we could find there. Highlights included an Orchard Oriole, Black Terns and an American Redstart Warbler. Yellow Headed Blackbirds were heard, but did not show themselves. A full listing of birds seen or heard appears below. This was a great day to be birding at Rose Lake!
If you couldn't be with us for this walk, we hope you can join us for one of the others in this series.
