August Bird Walk - Horicon Marsh
We began our walk with a gentle rain and ended it in brilliant sunshine. Along the way, we were able to find many of the shorebirds we hoped to see as well as large numbers of American White Pelicans and Tree Swallows. Special treats included extended viewing of Virginia Rails and Sora Rails along Dike Road. We decided to caravan to Highway 49 to look for the Black Necked Stilts reported there. As we worked our way along the road, we bumped into another group of birders. Seth Cutright was with them and proved to be the one who spotted the Stilts. All in all, a very interesting and successful outing.
If you couldn't be with us for this walk, we hope you will be able to join us for our September field trip.
