April Bird Walk - Zeloski Marsh

The weather did not cooperate for our first walk of the 16th season. Temperatures were around freezing. There was a strong, raw wind from the west. There's nothing on a marsh to stop or even slow that sort of wind. It was also heavily overcast. But it wasn't raining! Four brave souls plus Brad as walk leader gathered and set out. Shortly into the walk, one person had enough and left. A little while later another did. The three remaining soldiered on though we did not walk the full three hours. It was all worth it as we saw many interesting birds. Top of the list was probably the pair of Ospreys using the familiar nesting roost. We were worried though as the pole is leaning some. Ospreys make rather useless nests. We hope eggs stay put. There is a full list of species seen below. We managed 25, not bad for the conditions.
