April Bird Walk - Zeloski Marsh

We had an ideal day for our first walk of the season. Clear skies, bright sunlight and comfortable temperatures. The birds cooperated as well. Total numbers of waterfowl species were down from earlier in the year but a large number of species were represented. A special treat was a Horned Grebe, seen early in the walk. We got very good views.

Another highlight was a performance by a pair of Osprey. They were sighted flying over the marsh as well as landing briefly on a platform. There was no nest on the platform - yet - but one bird was carrying nesting material.

Also, all those who wanted to see Yellow-headed Blackbirds got their wish!
