April Bird Walk - Glacial Drumlin Trail
Over a dozen happy-to-be-out birders joined us on a cold, windy but very sunny day for our first walk of the 2013 season. This was also our first walk in partnership with the Friends of the Glacial Heritage Area, who responded by attending in large numbers. We were delighted to see all of them! Highlights of the trip included an Osprey that seemed to be watching us from time to time, mating Sandhill Cranes right on the trail near us, and many Ruby Crowned Kinglets. At the end of the walk, a few were able to see a Cooper's Hawk attack a Mourning Dove right above our heads. There was a lot of noise and a few flying feathers but the dove escaped unharmed. All in all, a very interesting and exciting walk. There's a full list of birds seen below. Thanks to Karen Etter Hale and Jason Daley for acting as scribes.
If you couldn't be with us for this walk, we hope you will be able to join us for an upcoming field trip.
